about

Written and recorded December 2016 through February 2017 independently, in Vermont.

"Returning to the Flame" is the debut album of Skalnâ. Conceived by Etienne Tel'uial, the man behind neo-folk project Falgar. Some of the songs on this album were meant to be on a new Falgar album, as Etienne was planning on returning it to a "metal-like" sound back in late 2016, but later chose not to, deciding to continue it under the neo-folk style. So due to these songs not having a proper home, Skalnâ was born.

Skalnâ (as hard as it is to label), would perhaps be described as "romantic raw post-metal", if you can even consider it metal at all...

The name "Skalnâ" comes from primitive Quendian (Tolkien elvish in its early stage), meaning "veiled, hidden, shadowed".
